Ariel Pink

Sunday 4:10–4:50 Green Stage

Los Angeles-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ariel Pink is a master of pop textured with musical eclecticism. Pink’s songs are catchy, melodic and provide listeners with an eerie familiarity, as if his lo-fi pop-rock tracks originated in the bygone era when cassette tapes reigned supreme. Pink was signed to Animal Collective’s record label Paw Tracks in 2003 after the band was “blown away” by his unique sound. The label released several reissues of albums previously recorded by Pink, including The Doldrums (2004), Worn Copy (2005) and House Arrest (2006). After spending years performing live shows with pre-recorded music, Pink attracted what would become his full-time band, called Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. Pink signed to 4AD in 2009 before releasing the critically acclaimed album Before Today (2010), which initiated Pink’s ascent to mainstream prominence. 2012’s Mature Themes was hailed as one of The 100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far by Pitchfork Media, and his latest, Pom Pom (2014) hit No. 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
